the only novel (1847) by Emily Brontë. The story is set on the Yorkshire Moors and is about the intense relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, which leads to many problems and sad events. Laurence Olivier played Heathcliff in the 1939 film version, directed by William Wyler. In 1978 the book was the subject of a successful pop song by Kate Bush, and in the 1990s it was made into a musical show, with Cliff Richard as Heathcliff.
